LOCAL WINTER GUARD TAKES HIGH HONORS By Teresa

Sheboygan’s very
own Evolution Winter Guard placed second in a national competition
this past weekend in the Independent A Class. Evolution traveled
to Dayton, Ohio February 10th and 11th for the Winter Guard International
Mideast Regional and competed against 13 other independent winter
guards. Evolution is hoping to place well while competing at the
Winter Guard International World Championships April 12-14.
Our organization offers
children and young adults a life enriching experience in the performing
arts that develops character, discipline, and creative thinking
skills. These skills are developed through our performing arts program,
Evolution Winter Guard, affiliated with the Midwest Color Guard
Circuit and Winter Guard International. Our members proudly represent
Sheboygan, Wisconsin in local, regional and national competitions
that touch the hearts and minds of over 120,000 spectators each
year.
The winter guard activity
is best described as the intersection of the performing arts and
performance sports. In the winter, our 11 ‘A’ guard
members (ages 13-18) and 9 ‘B’ guard members (ages 9-13)
participate in the creation and performance of shows that employ
exciting musical selections and complex movement and equipment work.
In the summer, our members march in local and regional parades to
raise funds for the following winter season.

The children and young adults in our program are the direct beneficiaries
of every dollar we raise and spend. While we embrace an environment
of volunteerism and consistently apply ways to reduce cost, we need
the support and assistance of the community to ensure the continuation
